Everyone deserves a home to love ❤️
This blog is where I share thoughts on living in the Palm Springs area. While the rest of the site is dedicated to real estate, this space allows room for related topics—local restaurants, events, people, and the everyday details that make a place feel like home. From time to time, I’ll also touch on home, garden, food, and pets (in moderation, I promise).
For more in-depth, data-driven real estate content, please explore other sections in the menu. Whether you’re buying or selling, a local REALTOR brings market knowledge, experience, and a trusted network of professionals.
Boy oh boy 2025 was fun, but the new year 2026 is here and it's time to make your real estate goals a reality. Whether you're a buyer or seller in uncertain times, it's good to be certain your REALTOR has a plan. #walterpsrealtor#benniondevillehomes#palmspringsrealestate
Rose (left) and Buster (right) always dress for the occasion — and insist on helping me thank you for another wonderful year. Your trust, support, and referrals mean more to me than I can say, and I’m truly grateful to work with such an exceptional community. As we look ahead to 2026, we wish you a year filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity — and a home life that’s warm, joyful, and just a little bit spoiled. With love and respect, Walter 🐾✨
Every other year, @barrymanilowofficial gifts the valley a benefit performance at the magnificent @mccallumtheatre - this year 5 evenings supporting 25 local charities! A terrific show by a standout of showman ❤️. This was Friday evening, on Sunday, Barry Manilow announced he was diagnosed with lung cancer, and was cancelling shows through January. I assume he probably knew his condition the night of the show, which makes the incredible performance he put forth even more special, and a real tribute to the consummate performer he is. I wish him joy and good health in 2026!
Ok, this is story of how a Flume @flumewaterdevice saved me a lot of misery and expense. i bought my Flume through the water company @cvwdh2o for about $80 after the rebate. This easy to self-install device wraps around your water meter at the curb and the app on your phone tells you when water is running, and sends an alert if it recognizes out of the ordinary usage. Saturday it notified me of a leak detection, i immediately turned off the water to the house, to the pool, to the sprinkler system, and it was still flowing nearly 2 gallons per minute - I’m not too smart but deduced it was a leak between the meter and the point of entry to my house. In other words somewhere between the curb and my front door. I called my plumber, he located the leak in the yard probably caused by the roots of my beloved Palo Verde trees, and now all is as it should be. The point of the story is had i not had the Flume, I would have never known i had a broken water pipe 2 feet under the surface in my front yard. Imagine 2 gallons per minute running unnoticed underground - in sand! How long before it became a disaster and washed out to the street? Thank you Flume.
New laws regarding digitally altered photographs effective January 1, 2026 - this is a good thing!
Hi everyone,
It’s that time of year when we rally as a team and support our local charities ahead of Thanksgiving. The Greater Palm Springs Realtors Fall Harvest Auction is coming up, and I’d love your help to make sure our office shows up strong. There are three easy ways to jump in:
1. Add something to our Fall Harvest basket. Seasonal treats, gourmet items, fall-themed goodies, gift cards, or even cash so I can shop for you. Our goal is a standout basket that brings in big auction dollars.
2. Bake something. Pies, cakes, breads, cookies… and yes, store-bought is absolutely welcome. Everything gets auctioned individually, with every dollar going straight to the charities.
3. Come to the auction on November 26, 9–10:30 a.m. at the Mizel Center. Grab a pie for your Thanksgiving table or pick from a whole spread of other goodies and gifts.
If you’d like to contribute, just reply and tell me which option works for you. I’ll handle the logistics and make sure everything gets where it needs to go.
Thanks in advance for your generosity. This event makes a real impact, and I’m grateful to do it with all of you.
Easy to forget, but today's mortgage average interest at 6.8% is not so outrageous when you consider the average since 1972. The abnormality was 2021 when rates were below 3%. Thanks to my banker at Wells Fargo for helping me keep this in perspective.
The market is changing in more ways than one - legally, culturally, economically, etc. The number of homes for sale has risen to levels not seen in nearly 10 years, so don’t create obstacles for potential buyers. If it’s too difficult to schedule a showing, agents and buyers will move on - there’s lots of other homes to see.
